News: Firefly Migration: Final Phase and Completion
Dear Valued Client,
We are pleased to share an important update on the Firefly server migration, which is now entering its final phase.
Over the course of this project, we have successfully migrated over 4,000 websites to upgraded hardware. By moving accounts in small, controlled batches rather than in large bulk transfers, we were able to check, verify, and individually test each account along the way. The result has been exactly what we set out to achieve: stable transitions and minimal downtime throughout.
Where We Are Now
With the vast majority of accounts already migrated, only a small number remain on the original Firefly hardware. Because so few are left, and these remaining accounts use standard configurations, we are now in a position to complete the migration in a single, carefully coordinated final move.
Final Cutover Date
All remaining accounts will be migrated to the new server on Sunday, 14 June 2026.
After this date, the Firefly migration will be considered complete, and every account will be running on the upgraded infrastructure.
Expected Downtime
For standard hosting configurations using our default nameservers:
- ns5.mydata.city
- ns6.mydata.city
No action is required, and we do not anticipate any downtime.
Temporary disruption may only occur if your website or application uses:
- Custom server configurations
- Custom A records
- External DNS providers (for example, Cloudflare or private DNS services)
- Whitelabelled or custom nameservers
If your DNS is managed externally but your website is hosted with NivaCity, we recommend opening a support ticket so we can coordinate your move and provide the details you need.
New IP Addresses
As part of this upgrade, accounts will be moving to new server IP addresses. Once the final migration begins, affected clients will be sent their new IP details, along with step-by-step guidance wherever any action is required.
If you are on our default nameservers, this is handled automatically on our side and no changes are needed from you.
